The book club at EPOCH Assisted Living on the East Side will discuss “Ethan Frome” by Edith Wharton. This book tells the story of a poverty-stricken New England farmer, his ailing wife and a youthful housekeeper drawn into a deep-rooted domestic struggle in this hauntingly grim tale of thwarted love. Warren Sullivan, ConnectedLiving’s EPOCH Ambassador, will offer weekly interactive computer presentations and discussion groups in April on Mondays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Topics include: Old Time baseball and celebration of Opening Day 2013 (April 1); history of Broadway (April 8); history of the USO (April 15); national parks (April 22); and the Kentucky Derby (April 29). Monday, April 8, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Learn the basics of using Microsoft Excel. This workshop covers the Excel environment, simple formulas, and charts. The workshop is designed for those who have never used Excel and it will mainly concentrate on practical activities such as setting up a budget. Prerequisite knowledge of using computers with a mouse will be helpful. Registration is required.
