SMITHFIELD – Police have identified the victim of a crash on Route 295 in Smithfield Monday evening, and are still investigating how the fatal collision took place.

On Oct. 26, at around 6:50 p.m., Rhode Island State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route 295 north in Smithfield.

The investigation revealed that Lori Mollicone, age 62, of Johnston, was struck by a vehicle in the center lane of Route 295 north, in the vicinity of the George Washington Highway overpass. As a result, Mollicone suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact State Police Headquarters at 401-444-1000.
