PAWTUCKET – All six of the city’s craft producers will come together for a first-of-its-kind festival-style event called Drink Pawtucket: A Celebration of Craft this Friday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Guild, 461 Main St.
In addition to The Guild will be representation from Foolproof Brewery, Crooked Current Brewery, Smug Brewing, White Dog Distilling, and Rhode Island Spirits.
Pawtucket continues to be the craft beer capital in Rhode Island, and The Guild’s Jeremy Duffy said this Pawtucket Arts Festival event will highlight that fact. He said PAF organizers, the Pawtucket Foundation and city officials all approached the breweries about doing an event that would help people get back outside and reconnect again post-COVID lockdowns.
“It’s not as post-COVID as we thought it would be, but we’re in better shape on some levels,” he said.
The Guild, with its large courtyard, made sense as the host facility, said Duffy.
“Pawtucket is home to New England’s largest concentration of breweries and distilleries,” states an event invitation (search Drink Pawtucket on EventBrite for tickets). “Join us for a festival-style tasting event, featuring the wares of all four breweries and both distilleries, all in one space.”
The event will include food trucks, music and games in the outdoor beer garden. Drink Pawtucket happens rain or shine, with limited numbers of tickets available. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors.
After the successful Craft Crawl a couple of years ago, said Duffy, there was a desire to condense everything into one special event with the four craft breweries and two craft distilleries.
“It’s really coming together great,” he said. “I hope this is the first annual event.”
There’s been a lot of excitement for the event, he said, and the community has really gotten behind the idea.
“We’re the one city or town that has the most breweries and distilleries,” said Duffy. “That needs to be celebrated.”
