WOONSOCKET – The 2nd annual John Blain Memorial Bike Run will take place Saturday, Sept. 18, rain or shine. Registration the day of the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the American Legion Post 85, 870 River St. Registration the day of the event is cash only.

Participants can also pre-register via Venmo business account @RideFree2020. The run will leave the Post at 11 a.m. and make stops in Sterling, Conn., and Chepachet before returning to the Post for a dinner provided by Bugg’d Out BBQ with raffles and a 50/50 after dinner.

The proceeds from the run go directly to the Johnathan Blain Memorial Scholarship fund for graduating seniors from the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center who are continuing their education in a trade-related field. Each year, organizers plan to make an additional donation to a person or family in the area in need. This past year, they awarded two $1,000 scholarships and made an additional donation to the passenger on Johnathan’s bike to assist her with her medical expenses.
