SMITHFIELD- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Navigant Credit Union at 468 Putnam Pike at 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, June 11.
According to the Navigant clerk, a light-skinned male, possibly white or Hispanic, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt over a light-colored baseball cap and a blue surgical face mask, approached the counter and demanded money.
The bank teller said the man handed over a nylon bag and demanded the clerk to put “100s, 50s, and 20s in the bag. No dye packs. No GPS. Hurry the f*** up. Don’t look at me,” the robber said, according to the bank teller.
Surveillance video recorded the suspect fleeing the bank on foot, heading in a westerly direction.
The suspect is described as approximately five feet, six inches tall, thin build. He was wearing surgical type face mask, jeans, white sneakers and blue rubber gloves along with the sweatshirt and cap.
Chief Richard St. Sauveur said he could not disclose the amount of money taken. The investigation is ongoing.
