WOONSOCKET – An 3-year-old boy fell out a window on the third floor of 542 Privilege St. in Woonsocket at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday evening. The boy, who had been under the care of his grandmother, who was in another room, survived the fall and is expected to recover from his serious injuries, according to the Woonsocket Police Department.

"Our investigation at this time is that the child sustained non life-threatening injuries," said police. The child was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital after someone found him on the sidewalk.

Police said the boy fell after a 6-year-old sibling opened the window due to the warmth of the day. The screen was open as well at the time of the incident, they said.

The boy was said to be conscious and alert after the apparent accident, which remains under investigation.
