LINCOLN – State Police are investigating a fatal car crash on Route 146 in Lincoln Sunday morning.

At around 8:29 a.m., members of the Lincoln Woods Barracks responded to reports of a one-car crash on Route 146 south, south of Breakneck Hill Road in Lincoln. Troopers were helped by Lincoln police and firefighters. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the lone operator of the vehicle was 42-year-old Eric Sampson, of Woonsocket. He succumbed to his injuries after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
