Shirley E. LaScola – Lincoln

Shirley E. (Seamans) LaScola, 79, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, May 9, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. LaScola.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Fowler) Seamans. She resided in Lincoln for the past 47 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.

Shirley was loved by everyone she would meet, and those who were lucky enough to know her affectionately called her "Ms. Shirley." She loved working with children and enjoyed crafts and painting. She also was an avid doll collector. One of her guilty pleasures was her time shopping at area Thrift Stores where she loved to score the next big bargain. She loved to listen to country music, and even in her younger years, Shirley was a country music singer for a band in the Fox Point section of Providence. Of all of her beautiful attributes and interests, she most of all loved her family and defined the words mother, grandmother and friend.

She leaves her children, Robert LaScola and his wife, Catherine Lallo, of Lincoln, and Laurie A. Mathieu and her husband, Joseph, of Lakeland, Fla.; her sister, Barbara Amaral, of North Providence; her brother, Jim Seamans, of Kentucky; her seven grandchildren, Derek LaScola, Cassie Nava, Joshua Mathieu, Danielle LaScola, Corinne LaScola, Megan Lallo and Nisa Lallo; her eight great-grandchildren, Raphiel, Alezay, Aidan, Selena, Julian, Jovan, Lucas and Liam. She was the sister of the late Gil Seamans, Larry Seamans, and Don Seamans.

Shirley's Life Celebration and prayer service was held May 11 at J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence RI 02904.
