Burlingame obituary

Florence L. (Lawton) Burlingame, age 77, passed into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on Sept. 22, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Edward (Ted) Burlingame for 51 wonderful years. She was the daughter of Philip and Ethel (Slade) Lawton of Warwick.

She was mother to Daniel Burlingame (Shannon), Jonathan Burlingame, Matthew Burlingame (Angela), Rachael Albanese (Neil) and Deborah Burlingame. She had 15 grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.

Her passions were love of the Lord, her children and grandchildren, and her beautiful flower gardens. Her wonderful gardens were clearly an extension of her vibrant personality.

For several years she and her Christian friends held a visiting nursing ministry named His Servants at local nursing homes and churches.

Florence also loved the arts and crafts. For many years she produced hand crafted antiques bandboxes which she sold at the Scituate Art Festival for over 20 years and to various antique and craft shops throughout southern New England under the name of “Yesteryear Bandboxes.”

Florence loved decorating. Throughout her log cabin home, she brought in many unique and beautiful artifacts to go along with the log cabin atmosphere. Many items had a great sense of humor as well.

At the request of the family, the funeral will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean State Baptist Church missions fund, 600 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
