It is an honor to announce my endorsement of Marlena Martins Stachowiak for Pawtucket City Council District 6. The primary for the race will take place on Nov. 2.

Marlena is someone who strives for improvement through collaboration and gets results. Like her, I grew up in Fairlawn and recognize the diverse neighborhoods and business districts that make up District 6. Over the years, this district has been fortunate to have some dedicated and passionate council representation over the last 30 years. Marlena Martins Stachowiak has the same passion and lifelong commitment.

Having met Marlena through community volunteering, her continuous advocacy for neighborhood initiatives like the new dog park that will go in this spring at Veterans Memorial Park, the opening of the community pool this year and her commitment to quality of life issues, I know that she will be the voice for the residents and businesses once again to bring fresh ideas to the community. These are just some of the many reasons why I know that Marlena will be a strong, independent and dedicated voice for the District 6 community.

Marlena is a breath of fresh air for the district and I am excited to listen to all of her new ideas to reinvigorate District 6. Fairlawn and the downtown neighborhoods will be able to count on her to be present and attend the council meetings to advocate for the district, something that has not happened in years.

We understand that Pawtucket is made up of diverse, talented, welcoming, and hardworking residents who want to have their voices heard. Marlena is ready to listen to those voices and fight to see positive change and get the results that Fairlawn and the downtown deserve. I am confident that she will be available and an ear for residents 24/7.

Marlena, who lives in the district with her husband Brian and their two recently adopted sons, was raised by her parents who immigrated to Pawtucket from the Azores. The first to graduate college in her family, Martins Stachowiak serves as a real estate agent in the community.

I ask that you join me in supporting Marlena for Pawtucket City Council District 6 on Nov. 2.

How does the Mayor not support the Pawtucket Democratic Committee Endorsed Candidate in District 6 ?

This is a Question the residents in 6 deserve to know
