SMITHFIELD – Smithfield native Alyssa Beaton, who wrapped up her senior season with the Assumption University softball team, was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team for the East Region.

Beaton, who was named to the Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference and served as a captain this spring, finished the season with 30 hits in 73 at-bats for a team-leading .411 average that was also the second-best mark in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The former Smithfield High All-State shortstop, who graduated from high school in 2017, also collected six doubles, four triples, three home runs, 19 runs batted in, 19 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.
