SMITHFIELD – After taking last year off following its successful 2019 debut on the area’s road racing circuit, the Beaver Dash 5K will take place on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 9 a.m. at the Thirsty Beaver Hometown Pub & Grub on Cedar Swamp Road.

The 3.1-mile race will begin in front of the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink on Pleasant View Avenue and venture 1.25 miles down to the police station. The course will then turn around and finish in the parking lot of the Thirsty Beaver, where runners and walkers will be treated to a post-race buffet, live music, raffles, and games.

There will also be a team competition in which teams of five or more members will compete for the Fastest Team, Team Participation, and Team Spirit awards. Each team member will receive a $5 Thirsty Beaver gift card.

The fee to sign up is $35 for adults and $25 for children, but on the day of the race, both fees will increase by $5. Everyone who registers will receive a race T-shirt, a swag bag, and a light pre-race breakfast.

Runners and walkers can visit to sign up or for more information.
