WOONSOCKET – For the first time in 28½ months, the George Nasuti Novans Pride 5K will hit the roads of Woonsocket for its 7th annual event, doing so during the Autumnfest weekend, on Sunday, Oct. 10, at The Gym LLC on Diamond Hill Road.

The 3.1-mile run/walk, which is regarded as one of northern Rhode Island’s most popular road races, traditionally takes place on the Monday morning of Memorial Day weekend, but no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, it did not take place the past two springs.

The event was created in the fall of 2013 by Judy Sullivan, the owner of The Gym LLC, and George Nasuti, who was the athletic director at Woonsocket High before unexpectedly passing away the following February. The proceeds from the event benefit the Woonsocket Athletic Department.

The race will again start on Diamond Hill Road, tour the nearby neighborhoods, and finish in the parking lot in front of The Gym LLC. Bib pickup will take place at The Gym LLC on Saturday, Oct. 9, between 7 to 11 a.m., as well as on the morning of the race.

The fee to sign up is $20, $15 for runners ages 10-17, and $5 for runners under the age of nine. Visit www.runsignup.com/Race/RI/Woonsocket/NovansPride5k to sign up for the race or for more information.
