PAWTUCKET -- The North Providence High football team kicked off its Division IV season on Friday night with a 16-14 victory over Davies Tech in the first high school game at Pawtucket’s Vets Park in decades.

Vince Harris scored his first career high school touchdown by reeling in a 66-yard pass from quarterback C.J. Almagno, and Miguel Santana also found the end zone on a three-yard TD run.

Almagno also threw a two-point conversion pass to Jevon Melendez and eventually scored the game’s decisive points on a two-point conversion run.

The Cougars will visit Smithfield on Friday at 7 p.m. in their next game. The Sentinels kicked off their season last weekend with a 30-0 victory over Tiverton.
