WOONSOCKET – Village Haven came back from a 5-3 deficit to take a 9-8 thriller with Ronzio Pizza & Subs last Friday night in the Field of Dreams Senior Softball League’s third-place game at Cold Spring Park’s Baldelli Field.

Village Haven, which improved to 5-9, will face the second-place team, Lepine Financial Services, which is 7-6, in the best-of-three semifinals that will begin on Friday. Ronzio (4-10) will take on three-time champion Dr. Day Care (11-2) in the other series.

Down by two runs after three innings of play, Village Haven scored six unanswered runs over the next three innings to take a 9-6 lead, but Ronzio came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ronzio had runners on the corners with two outs, but couldn’t push across the tying and go-ahead runs.

Roger Roy led Village Haven’s offense with four hits, Louie Tomaselli added two base hits and a triple, and Tom Auclair had two singles and a double. Al Senecal also collected three hits, and Roger Pincince held on for the win on the mound.

Ronzio was led by Mike Donofrio’s two doubles and a single, Marc Lessard’s two base hits and a triple, Rick Lafrancois’ two singles and a double, and Joe Cassieri’s three base hits.
